Pemberton Regional Airport Authority

The overview committee for the Pemberton Airport underwent several incarnations before being incorporated under the Society Act in March 2007 as the Pemberton Regional Airport Authority (PRAA).

HelicopterAs an incorporated society, the PRAA is a non-profit organization where any funds or profits must be used only for the purposes of the society itself. Under its constitution, the purposes of the PRAA are:

(a) To develop, maintain, and operate the Pemberton Regional Airport, including facilities and services for passengers; for flight instruction; and for aircraft accommodation, rigging, maintenance and overhaul.

(b) To provide an efficient and well-maintained airport facility and service for the residents of and visitors to the Pemberton Valley and Whistler area.

(c) To acquire, hold, lease, manage, rent, or sell any property other than land for the furtherance of the society's purposes.

(d) To apply for and hold any license, permit, or operating authority which may be required to carry out, or which will further enhance, the society's purposes.

Snowy Valley(e) To enter into contracts with any person, corporate body, government or government ministry, department, or authority which may further the purposes of the society.

(f) To solicit, receive, acquire and hold donations, gifts and legacies for the purposes of the society and to collect and receive rents, profits and other revenues, grants, appropriations, and subsidies for the purposes of the society.

(g) To sell or convert any property, other than land, into money from time to time; to invest and re-invest any principal in such a manner as may be determined; and to disburse and distribute such money and property in the furtherance of the purposes of the society.

(h) To market, promote, coordinate and manage all services and facilities described in the society's purposes.

(i) To seek funding and financial assistance from the Government of Canada, Province of British Columbia, federal and provincial crown corporations and agencies, municipal governments, regional districts, corporate bodies, and other local authorities in furtherance of the purposes of the society.

(j) To manage and coordinate the development of short, medium, and long-term plans to develop and improve the Pemberton Regional Airport

(k) To actively promote the Pemberton Regional Airport

(l) To do all things incidental or conducive to the attainment of the purposes of the society.

(m) To promote or oppose legislation or legislative change affecting aviation, aeronautics, the aircraft industry and all of its branches

(n) To ensure that the development, maintenance, and operation of the Pemberton Regional Airport is carried out in accordance with the highest standards of environmental sustainability and accountability to the communities in the Pemberton Valley and surrounding areas.

(o) To reflect the needs and values of the community in the Pemberton Valley and surrounding areas.

Cockpit ViewGeneral administration of the PRAA (minutes and agendas, meeting coordination, etc.) is conducted through the Village of Pemberton, however, as an incorporated society, the PRAA has the powers of an individual as well as an independent existence that is separate and distinct from its members and separate from the Village of Pemberton.
